hi, i cant find the study you mention from a quick search, but i think that it likely would say the babies did not receive supplemental oxygen. there is always oxygen in the air, as everyone knows. i am not a doctor, but i work in healthcare. as far as i ever have heard, this issue with the blindness is supposed to have been caused by an excessive amount of supplemental oxygen.
i am not sure physically how you would restrict a baby from receiving the normal amount of oxygen that is always present in the atmosphere. if that is truly what they were doing i would love to be able to see the documentation for that.

I was born two months premature in 1957 and the Dr. told my Mom they were just figuring out why a lot of these babies were loosing their eyesight and it had something to do with the oxygen levels. He promised her he would watch out for me! She also mentioned I was a nurses favorite who always held me so thank God I was one of the lucky ones!
