Last year, the rain was heavy enough to refill part of Tulare Lake, which at one time was the largest lake west of the Mississippi. It is more significant than Lake Tahoe. But they were drained by agriculture by the early 1900s. It’s located about 20 miles from where we live, and as a result of the refill, thousands of dairy cows were relocated to higher ground. The cows are safe, and while most people are applauding the reemergence of this, most of our lawmakers and media criticize God‘s actions.
In city limits, they have been putting monitors on wells. It hasn’t hit the county areas yet, but we expect to be monitored soon. They are limiting Californian's access to all the waterways when we have plenty of water, creating a devastating drought. In the last decade, thousands of farmers have lost their farms and ranches because of water manipulation. Banks and large corporations are grabbing up all of the land. Wells Fargo Bank owns most of the land near us - dedicated to growing oranges.
Most people do not realize California agriculture is so massive it feeds most of the United States and a lot of the world. Without California nobody eats well.

I buy my milk from a farms & I was astonished to see featured in the vid my farmer. She & a few other feisty dairy ladies filed a case against the state concerning cafos and the tiny raw milk dairies. The state has backed off for now — but only to regroup.
My daughter has a small distribution bisiness working with small farm growers & consumers, so it’s close to home — I’ll be keeping up & alert.
Below is more on the small dairy / cafo case. They have a good outfit (The Institute for Justice) fighting for them, but in talking to my friend, she seems to perceive their issue as separate from that of broad water “protection”/ conservation that the growers and all of us are facing — or will eventually. It’s not. Plus it flows downhill — affects everyone. They, we, need to band together. We all need to wake up & work together. I suspect. .
