It is curious how John Coleman, with his strong connections to mainstream media and meteorology, is now revealing this very egregious information. Where is he coming from? Is he for real? I can’t help but be suspicious of this kind of revelation. Also this video is dated 2010. Not sure what that means tho.
I noticed too, the temperatures in the media and on mobile phone apps are reported to be lower than what they actually are, specifically during the summer months.
I use two indoor outdoor thermometers, which I have both tested and the measured temperature is within one degree of the actual temperature. During the summer months I have observed on average 10F higher temperatures than what was reported. The higher the actual temperature is, the greater is the reported difference. I remember a day that was reported to be 91F, but the actual temperature was 104F.
I think one of the reasons of underreporting the temperature is to prevent people from using their AC and/or to set the temperature too low. Also, a lot of smart hvac systems utilize the reported temperature to cool or heat.
