I could not afford remediation so we ozonated our spaces (ozone gas deactivates mold spores) and the HVAC and then just stopped using the HVAC ever again. Windows were opened all summer and we used a whole house fan to draw air through. In the winter we just wore sweaters or blankets. And everyone's health improved. Now I live in an area where no one has HVAC and despite it being hot and humid and moldy, no one gets mold sicknesses. Europeans almost universally have the belief that AC is unhealthy, yet Americans act as is that belief is an old wives tale or a joke.
