Mold has been around since time immemorial. If it's so deadly our ancestors and humanity in general would have died off long ago. It could be unhealthy for us due to gut imbalance issues that so many people have. Like our gut, which is our defense system against pathogens, isn't strong enough to combat it so it can overwhelm.
