I stopped purchasing dog food and started giving real food to them and the change was outstanding, even for the 10 year old arthritic one. Now to work out real food for my other farm animals.
I want to get another dog and I don’t want to get it vaccinated or feed it crappy food, but my husband likes to go along to get along - vaccinated the dogs we did have and fed them the cheapest food - so I don’t want to get another dog under those conditions 😰
When I was a kid our dogs lived mostly off table scraps, supplemented by whatever "Gaines" kibble was.
The table scraps from 1975 were no doubt less poisonous than today.
The dogs were just let outside. No leash law. Other than the odd one hit by a car, their lives were happier than dogs treated like spoiled children today
I don't remember any dog having cancer when I was a child. Now every dogs seem to die from cancer, even my two dogs died from cancer. Back in the days my parents fed our dogs table scraps and never vaccinate them. My childhood dogs all lived a long happy life.
That’s tough. There’s something going on with the animal vaccines too. We’ve had seven dogs in the last 18ish years. Only the last two have allergies to food. One was a stray and one was not and they are a year apart in age.

Genetically modified corn 88% in US, and GM soybean 90% +- ,cause many illnesses in humans and animals, and they are the main fillers in animal feed. Movie called Genetic Roulette came out some years ago, but clearly shows how animals get sick and die when on a diet of GM foods.
This is so sad. Dogs seem to be suffering this fate more and more as well.
