Exactly. True dandelions were not in abundance here on Kauai. It took alot of foraging, but now they're practically non existent. We have only Japanese Nipplewort, it's in the dandelion family but haven't been able to find anyone who can tell me if they are edible. Do you have any knowledge of these?

I don't know about any substitutes because even within the same Family of plants or even Genus the properties of them can be radically different.
